It's time for the felucca ride on the Nile. It's a traditional wooden sail boat that is supported by either one or two sails. My mum is too nervous to go in it so she stays behind on the main boat.
We are introduced to Ali, who will be our guide from Aswan to Luxor. There's another couple in our group.
As we approach the felucca, I notice the name of the boat is Love Boat. I jokingly tell Ali that it's so unfortunate that I'm alone on this 'Love Boat'.
Ali says, "You're in Egypt. You're never alone. Ok?"
The couple on the boat are Amr and Cynthia. They're recently married and live in New York. Cynthia is originally from Taiwan and Amr is Egyptian so Ali occasionally switches between English and Arabic when speaking to him.
Sitting in the sailboat is a strange experience. I feel like I'm dreaming. Ali points out various tombs in the far distance, while I'm thinking, "Am I really here?"
