Mum's Homework from 1966

My Mum went to Gujarati school in Fox Street, Johannesburg (Marshalltown).

In 1966, she wrote this piece on Dogs! 🐕

How special to discover this gem today.

Filmare & Showtime were Bollywood magazines that my Dad used to get from Durban. I used them for pics of saris for my project!

A box of memories

Over the years I have let go of PLENTY of things. 

…but today, I found a little box of all these goodies that I collected as a school girl. 😄

Trolls, Diaper Babies, novelty erasers, cases for Nokia 3310 etc..!

It was so much fun finding these that I had to share them on here! I’ve found a few more that I’ll post soon. 🤗💗

Holi 2022

I’m so happy that I was able to observe Holi (the festival of colour, love & spring) this year in my beloved hometown. 🔥🪔🙏🏼❤️🌸

Uncle Yusuf

Uncle Yusuf & I never met, but we were connected online. He always expressed kindness towards me, especially after losing my Dad.

I was hoping to have met him when I came to South Africa. When I heard that he wasn’t well, I prayed that he would pull through. 

This morning I was sad to wake up to the news that Uncle Yusuf passed away. 

We extend our condolences & duas to the Masoet family. 🙏🏼🤲🏼

Happy Birthday, Mummy!

It’s a bit late in the day, but the past few days have been chaotic.

Today is my Mum’s birthday! 🎂🎈 

Last year on this day, was my Dad’s funeral. I can’t imagine how hard that was…but we like to think that Dad planned it that way. 😇

I really want to spend some time honouring this special lady.

My parents lived in the same home for 40 years. 

Last night as my Mum handed the keys over to the new owner and we drove away - from the only home we’ve known as children, I told her how proud we are of her. 

The changes that she has made this past year have been taken with grace. Her life has always been devoted to her husband and two children. My Mum is the epitome of someone who loves unconditionally.

It’s the beginning of a new chapter for her. 

I wish her only the best - health & happiness always. 

Although my Mum isn’t on Facebook, many of her friends are. Thank you to each of you for your warmth, kindness and support. She adores you all!
